CHARIS activities in Rome during the Jubilee Year 2025.

Two meetings will take place in Rome at the end of March-April. Common to both includes passage through the Holy Door in St. Peter's Basilica and papal audience.

1.  Training in Prophetic Intercession Rome March 31 - April 4, 2024 "I was looking for someone who could build the wall or take the lead, so that I did not have to destroy the land." (Ezek. 22:30). The CHARIS Intercessory Prayer Commission has the specific mandate to promote intercessory prayer in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and the Church. This course is a foundational training in prophetic intercessory prayer and is open to anyone who wants to learn more about intercessory prayer and grow in it. [More information and registration via this link]

2.  International meeting of prayer groups April 4-6: Joyful witnesses of hope (Rom. 12:12). An extraordinary gathering of believers from all over the world united in prayer, worship, and renewal. Prayer groups and individuals are invited to be renewed in their spiritual lives, experience the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit, and deepen their commitment to mission and evangelism.  [More information and registration via this link]

(NOTE: the meeting for priests and deacons March 31 – April 4 is cancelled.)

The CHARIS Nordic team, news

The CHARIS team for the Nordic countries, which was constituted last autumn, meets regularly via internet link, and on 7–9 March they will meet physically in Järfälla outside Stockholm for retreat, deliberations and intercession. In connection with this, a public meeting is also planned. The team consists of representatives from charismatic prayer groups and communities in the Nordic countries, and people from parishes where there are no prayer groups yet and who want to volunteer as contact persons and functionaries are also included in the team. There are many people who long for a charismatic community but feel quite isolated, especially if the pastor and congregational leadership are not supportive. Prayer groups have an essential place in the renewal. A prayer group can be born out of the desire of a few people or from the intuition of a single person and can consist of anything between several hundred and just a few people. Getting prayer groups started in more parishes is a goal. [See more in the Newsletter Sept 2024] [Read more about prayer groups on CHARIS' international website].

Another goal is to be able to arrange national and Nordic conferences, targeted training for deacons and priests and similar events where we can also invite foreign speakers. Deacon Pancho is currently in contact with Deacon Terry Quinn from Ireland, who is also the contact person for Renewal Ministries in the United States , where Ralph Martin, Peter Herbeck and Mary Healy are active. We will see what this can lead to, arranging targeted efforts for different groups such as priests and deacons of course requires a lot of preparation and that there is a sufficient amount of interest.

Professor Mary Healy, of Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit and an international expert in biblical studies, has been appointed by Pope Francis as a member of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, an advisory body on matters relating to liturgy, sacraments and biblical texts. She has previously held positions within the Vatican and was appointed as a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission in 2014.

Healy is a well-known profile who supports the Charismatic Renewal and a hired speaker all over the world. She has been interested in charismatic graces and has studied miraculous healings and the theology surrounding it. In the book "Healing: Bringing the Gift of God's Mercy to the World," she encourages Catholics to get to know the Bible and embrace the healing power of the sacraments more deeply. She explains how we can integrate faith more fully into our lives and become renewed Christians in a deeper trust in the Holy Spirit and the graces of the Holy Spirit. [Read more here]

Support CHARIS international

CHARIS is a service to the entire stream of grace that the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) in its many forms of expression constitutes. The main purpose is fellowship that promotes the new evangelization, which is the heart of Pentecost.  Follow CHARIS on social media and the international website. Also feel free to make a donation ("Make a donation" at the top right of the page) as you are dependent on this to complete your service at the current level. CHARIS Norden is also dependent on voluntary contributions and efforts as we do not have our own budget. For example, this information letter is based entirely on voluntary efforts.
